VOC stands for Volatile Organic Compound, which covers a variety of chemicals, and the most concerning one is formaldehyde (HCHO). Do you know that smell of a brand new house or a brand new car? That’s formaldehyde (HCHO) that you’re breathing in and it can cause you to develop allergies and in worse case scenarios, cancer if exposed to it long-term.

Adhesives Exhaust from engines New curtains/cloths

Allergies have been known to develop in people even over just a short-term exposure to formaldehyde (HCHO), not to mention eye, nose and throat irritations. In worse case scenarios, long-term exposure to formaldehyde (HCHO) has been linked to increased chances of leukaemia, lymphoma or cancer even.

Seniors and children aged 0-12 with weaker immune systems compared to adults are especially at risk to these dangerous health effects.

These methods are ineffective because they cannot fully eliminate the VOCs in a room. Just because the smell of formaldehyde (HCHO) is ‘gone’, it does not mean that the formaldehyde (HCHO) is gone too. In fact, VOCs can actually linger in a place for up to 10 years.

There are 2 durable layers of nano-coating applied on all interior surfaces.

For the base layer, nano-sized particles of a specially developed anti-VOC coating (water-based) are electrostatically sprayed onto all interior surfaces, including ceilings, floors, walls, furniture, car interiors & any other available surfaces. These nano-particles then penetrate into the surfaces’ micropores & seal them – blocking VOCs from being emitted into the surrounding air.

Then, a top layer of another unique anti-VOC coating (water-based) is electrostatically sprayed onto the surfaces. This top layer acts as extra protection – so, there is no chance of VOCs leaking or emitting into the surrounding air.

Besides removing VOCs, this top coating also effectively eliminates viruses & bacteria by breaking down these germs into harmless water vapour when they come into contact with it – thus, improving the indoor air quality that you breathe in everyday.

The Nanion Electrostatic Spray Gun charges the nano-particles with ions, causing them to coat even the back surfaces behind the front surface that is being sprayed.

Nanion VOC Remover can also achieve a bactericidal effect.

Problems faced by Client
Mr. Choo’s residence suffered from poor air quality when he first moved in after it was renovated. When we took an initial reading of VOC and formaldehyde (HCHO) levels in his home in May of 2021, the measurements fell within dangerous zones.

Any reading above 0.300 parts per million (ppm) is considered highly dangerous and the first reading prior to the application of Nanion’s VOC Removr was at an average of 1.059 ppm, more than triple the recommended safe levels. There was also a strong, unpleasant smell in the entire place.

We then proceeded to apply the Nanion VOC Removr layers on all surfaces including the ceilings, walls, floor, and furniture for full coverage. We used an electrostatic spray gun, which ensures that even the hard-to-reach surfaces, such as the backs of furniture, were also covered with the VOC Removr’s protective layer.
